As you’d expect there are also plenty of discovery XXV badges on the door and tailgate, while the special gets a distinct design of 20-inch alloys.
Inside, the special model gets much more XXV badges, while the fascia, the instrument panel binnacle and door tops are clad in Windsor leather.
Standard kit is the same as the HSE Luxury, so everything from climate control and keyless go, to rear-seat home entertainment and a TV in the dashboard is included.
Talking about the car’s 25th year, Phil Popham, group marketing director at Jaguar Land Rover, said “Since its inception the Land Rover discovery has been critical to the success of the brand and has now become an renowned design in its own right.
The discovery XXV special edition is the supreme in sophisticated flexibility and a fitting tribute to the legendary status of this renowned Land Rover.”
As with all discovery models sold in the UK, there’s a single engine choice – a 252bhp 3.0-litre SDV6 turbodiesel that allows the car to sprint from 0-60mph in 8.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 112mph. Land Rover claims it’ll return 35.3mpg and emits 213g/km.
Prices for the discovery XXV will start at around £63,000 – up from the £59,450 asked for the current standard discovery HSE Luxury.
The discovery also gets the full suite of Land Rover off-road aids, including terrain reaction and hill Descent Control.
