Toyota recalls all 2,800 hydrogen Mirais around the world

Toyota has stated it will recall all 2,800 of its hydrogen fuel cell vehicle Mirai cars, developed between November 2014 as well as December 2016, after it discovered prospective problems with the output voltage produced in the fuel cell system.
The company’s very first ever hydrogen vehicle recall will include a software application update to the fuel cell and is expected to take around half an hour. It will be free of charge.

With just 13 hydrogen fuelling stations in the UK, some purely reserved for research study functions as well as not for industrial use, hydrogen cars and truck uptake has been slow. Toyota UK stated just 28 Mirais are registered in this country, however couldn’t verify if all 28 are included in the recall, as some may already have had the software application modify done prior to registration this year.

Under unique driving conditions, such as depressing the accelerator pedal to the wide open throttle setting while driving with cruise manage on during a long descent, the voltage produced by the fuel cell boost converter may surpass the system’s maximum limits, Toyota has said.
Since introducing the £66,000 hydrogen car, Toyota has offered around 2,800 in Japan, the US, Europe as well as the Middle East.
